K&N Typhoon™ Intake System for the non-S Cooper! This K&N Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Mini Cooper models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range.
Fits the following models with the N16 engine:
2012-2014 R56 MINI Cooper Hatchback (non-S)
This product is CARB Approved for the models listed above. CARB EO Number: D-269-53.
NOTE: Although K&N only lists the 2012-2014 R56 models on their application guide, we know the N16 engine is used on other 2011+ Gen2 Cooper non-S models including R55 Clubman, R57 Convertible, R58 Coupe, R59 Roadster, R60 Countryman, and R61 Paceman. We suspect this product will fit these other models, but we can only list the application according to K&N's application chart.
US Models only, not compatible with non-US Euro models.
This air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a stylish K&N branded heat shield that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive black powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor. The elongated cylinder shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions.
This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver, ratchet set and some wrenches.
-
- Guaranteed to increase horsepower

- Lasts up to 100,000 miles before service is required (depending on driving conditions)
- Replaces stock air intake system
- Washable and reusable lifetime air filter
- K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty
Manufacturer's Warranty applies.
K&N Engineering, Inc., requires cleaning the intake system’s air filter element every 100,000 miles. When used in dusty or off-road environments, our filters will require cleaning more often. We recommend that you visually inspect your filter once every 25,000 miles to determine if the screen is still visible. When the screen is no longer visible some place on the filter element, it is time to clean it.
For care and maintenance of the filter in this kit, see K&N Filter Care Kit.
See installation instructions.
For another R56 Cooper K&N Intake, see G2NME2018.
For the R56 Cooper S K&N Intake, see G2NME2015.
Since your 2011 Clubman non-turbo uses the same N16 engine, this intake should fit fine on your 2011 Clubman. The only drawback is this unit is not CARB approved for the 2011 models so it may not pass California emissions testing.
