N12 (M6 x 16):  8.5 Nm
N16, N18 (M6 x 15):  8.0 Nm

This oscillating actuator motor is responsible for adjusting the camshaft timing.  The eccentric shaft position is adjusted by actuator motor. Controlling the motor's direction of rotation and actuation period adjusts the eccentric shaft position as required. The positioner motor can draw a current of up to 40 A at the maximum adjustment position.

The VANOS Gasket is available separately as part number G2NME8323

The eccentric shaft sensor detects the angle of rotation of the eccentric shaft and thus supplies the actual-position data for the control system.

The position of the eccentric shaft is reported by the eccentric shaft sensor of the Digital Engine Electronics (DME). It has a detection range of 180 °.

Non-return valve VANOS to cylinder head (M14 x 1.5): 13 Nm

The Non-Return Valve is connected in series with the solenoid valve for VANOS actuation and its purpose is to prevent the VANOS and its oil channels from running dry.

The Filter in the solenoid valve protects the control piston and the VANOS unit from impurities greater than 100 microns.

The solenoid valve is controlled by the DME and opens the oil channel accordingly for advanced or retarded adjustment of the VANOS. Control of the solenoid valve is defined by characteristic mapping.

Question:
Does this solenoid include the fastener bolt and the gasket seal? My MINI's original exhaust VANOS solenoid has a bolt with a star (torx) vs. 10mm hex bolt which I see on most of the YouTube repair videos. Do you have that? Can I just reuse my original bolt, or is it 1-time use?
Answer:
The VANOS Solenoid does come with an o-ring seal. The bolt is not included - just re-use the original.
