Yakima Tube Top

If your bike frame lacks the upper horizontal bar common with some ladies bike or full suspension bike, you may want to consider the optional Yakima Tube Top. The Tube Top attaches between the seat post and handle bar post providing a nice level bar for mounting onto 'hanging' bike racks. The Tube Top can also be used on standard frames to avoid stress or damage to the top bar on your high end bike (especially if you have shift cables running under the top bar).

Halfback vs. Fullback - What's the Difference?

Aside from the finish and look of the rack itself, the main difference between the Halfback and the Fullback is the Fullback includes the SKS locking package that secures rack to vehicle, bikes to rack to help prevent theft. The Halfback does not include the locking package.

Yakima will handle all your gear, freeing up car space, so you can Take More Friends.

Question:
Should use a bike rack only on the top of my MINI Cooper Countryman 2020? Do you offer bike racks for the rooftop of the Mini Cooper?
Answer:
In order to carry bikes on the roof, your 2020 F60 Countryman will need to have 'roof rails' on the roof.
If your Countryman has the roof rails, then you can get the following:

Roof Rack for Countryman with roof rails

Question:
I am trying to find a bike rack to attach to the trunk that will work for sure. I purchased the Saris Bones 2 and that did not fit as I expected. I saw the Yakima halfback and fullback were both rated for my car, but do I need any additional accessories or are there any caveats?
Answer:
Here are the notes from Yakima regarding the halfback and fullback on your 2019 F56 MINI Cooper Hardtop:

Notes

253 - Outer/lower support frame rests on the lower portion of the license plate or well. When bikes are loaded, re-tension straps to ensure base pads only make contact with the vertical surface of the well or plate.
271 - Yakima trunk-mounted racks will not work with some optional spoilers.
275 - Do not use the rear wiper when the carrier is installed.
279 - Route top strap underneath rear spoiler on some vehicles.
285 - Yakima trunk-mounted racks weight limit for 2 bikes is 60 lbs. / 3 bikes is 90 lbs.
291 - For this vehicle; Yakima Halfback, Fullback, and Hangout products require that the upper and lower hooks must be changed and installed in anchor mode. See instructions for anchor mode implementation.
292 - The headliner and or trunk liner on this vehicle may deform or be damaged under prolonged contact with this rack in anchor mode. Yakima Halfback, Fullback, and Hangout products require this rack installed in anchor mode.

Technical Notes
Mini Hardtops come with 3 different Spoiler/ options: -The "Copper" trim level spoiler does not have a pronounced lip and is OK . -The "Copper S" and "John Cooper Works" trim level spoiler has a Pronounced lip and is not recommended due to a large amount of deflection that occurs around the hatch seam. -There is an optional spoiler with a wing that is OK as long as you route the top straps under the wing and not over it (See Pic's).

Measurements
Bumper or Hatch to Base Pad: 4 1/2 "
Hub Setting: 3

Question:
I was referred to you to help me with a problem attaching the Yakima bike rack to my 2016 mini clubman. First of all, the angle of the top strap will not fit into the only space available on the top of the car, just above the doors. Should I strap in on the upper part of the operable doors. This model has the split doors, one opens left and one opens right? I'm also not understanding the diagram on page 4 about the necessity for "anchor hooks"?
Answer:
Thank you for your email and for your email.

The straps on top and bottom need to be used in 'anchor mode'. Here are some notes for the Clubman:

256  Outer/lower support frame rests on the lower trunk lip, hatch lid, or rear door.
270  Lower pad rests on rear door just above bumper. Ensure proper placement of pad and strap tension to prevent contact with bumper.
275  Do not use rear wiper when carrier is installed.
285  Yakima trunk mounted racks weight limit for 2 bikes is 60 lbs. / 3 bikes is 90 lbs.
291  For this vehicle; Yakima Halfback, Fullback, and Hangout products require that the upper and lower hooks must be changed and installed in anchor mode. See instructions for anchor mode implementation.
292  The headliner and or trunk liner on this vehicle may deform or be damaged under prolonged contact with this rack in anchor mode. Yakima Halfback, Fullback, and Hangout products require this rack installed in anchor mode.
294  Anchor Hooks must be placed on floor of cargo area before closing hatch.
