Happy New Year! The Phil Wicks Driving Academy
has just announced its event at the brand new Chuckwalla Valley Raceway
in Desert Center, California, for Monday, May 24, 2010. This is an exciting new opportunity for the driving academy as this is the only track scheduled in the western United States for 2010.
Phil Wicks has over 50 years experience with the MINI/Mini and has probably driven more track miles in a Mini/MINI than any other racer. By the way, that is Phil driving the red Mini in the original "Italian Job" movie starring Michael Caine! He also drove in other movies and television series -- "Grand Prix", "Secret Agent Man" in the first ever Mini Cooper S HOP 731, "The Avengers" -- and provided technical and marketing support to the making of the new "Italian Job" movie.
Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is a brand new track that is already attracting major automobile and motorcycle organizations. The events for the day include the following:
Phil Wicks Driving Academy for Novice, Intermediate, and Expert drivers (Novice and Intermediate receive one-on-one instruction with an in-car instructor. All students participate in classroom.)
Solo I Autocross for Intermediate drivers and graduates of Phil Wicks Driving Academy Novice curriculum
North American MINI Cooper Challenge Time Trials (winners of Solo I Autocross and licensed racers) Here is an opportunity to set the MINI Cooper lap record at this brand new track!
